Trip
report courtesy of Christine Burris:
Great
fun was had by all! Three unplanned assisted re entries first for myself
"I know, embarrassing!" with immediate assistance by Brian Hollander
and visitor Ken Biddle. Next
was Herb who was assisted by Ken Biddle and Wade Johnson, non-Mountaineer
friends who happened to be at the pass. Finally Brian Hollander
attempted a re-enter and roll which also required an assisted reentry,
Peter Babler and Ken Biddle were standing by and provided an immediate
assist. We practiced towing across Canoe Pass at max flood and
Bob repeatedly jumped into the current off the rocks inviting a rescue
first from Kim Frasher and second time from Herb Munson. All members
practiced bracing, crossing eddy lines and reading dynamic water.
Many practiced sculling and rolling in the current and whirlpools.
At the end of the day in Bowman Bay, silhouetted against the
tortoise shell sunset, Bob and Gary Stood up in their boats and Gary
gave his signature paddle twirl around the neck, after which we celebrated
Gary's Birthday at the Skagit River Brewery. |
